KAMLOOPS, BC – The Lethbridge Hurricanes returned to the win column on Wednesday night with a 7-3 victory over the Kamloops Blazers.

The Canes came into the game looking to rebound from a 4-1 loss to the Kelowna Rockets on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. It was their first loss on their five-game B.C. road trip.

After going down 1-0 a little over halfway into the first period following a goal by Logan Bairos, the Hurricanes tied it up late in the frame with Brayden Edwards’ first goal of the game from Logan Wormald.

Just 2:57 into the second period, Edwards notched his second goal of the game and 13th of the season on the powerplay, with assists from Noah Chadwick and Miguel Marques.

Leo Braillard continued his impressive start to his time with the Hurricanes with his sixth of the season at the 11:27 mark, assisted by Tyson Zimmer and Wormald. The Canes kept the onslaught going 24 seconds later when Kash Andresen and Elias Knoester combined to set up Kooper Gizowski’s 12th of the season, and the eventual game winner.

Fraser Minten scored not long after for the Blazers to cut the lead to 4-2, but the Hurricanes were not done scoring in the second period.

Wormald potted his own tally with a little unde three minutes left in the period to make it 5-2, with assists from Chase Pauls and Marques.

The Canes again wasted no time extending their lead, this time taking only 19 seconds before Zimmer scored his eighth of the year from Pauls and Trae Wilke. Minten scored again for the Blazers to cap off the seven-goal flurry.

The third period slowed down on the scoresheet compared to the second, but Marques still added his eighth goal from Chadwick and Wormald, which would solidify the game’s final score at 7-3.

Hurricanes goaltender Brady Smith impressed in his third start of the season, stopping 36 of 39 shots he faced to mark the first win of the year by a Hurricanes goaltender not named Harrison Meneghin.

The win brings Lethbridge to a 13-9-2 record, which puts them third place in the Eastern Conference.

The Hurricanes will look to close out their B.C. road trip on a high note with a game against the WHL-leading Prince George Cougars on Friday, November 24.
