LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Public Library is getting new cards.

Four new card designs are set to launch in early 2024. In fall 2023, the Lethbridge Public Library and Chinook Arch Regional Library System invited local artists to submit their artwork for new card designs.

Various artwork was collected from all age groups and after a review of over 200 submissions, four winners have been selected.

Michelle Dyke, senior manager of public services said, “We wanted to create an opportunity for community members to have their designs featured on our cards for years to come.”

Dyke continued, “There were many fantastic entries which just goes to show the level of artistic talent we have in southern Alberta.”

The first card design contest was held in 2018, with those cards still available to library users. However, the 2018 designs will be retired as the new card designs become available.

For members of the community interested in getting a card to the Library Public Library, there is currently no fee. As the new cards will be available starting in 2024, individuals with an active membership at that time will be able to update their current card to one of the new designs, at no cost.
