Nikka Yuko Winter Light Festival returning with new theme

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden in Lethbridge is hosting its eighth annual Winter Light Festival. This year, the festival will have a ‘Celebration of the Seasons’ theme.

The team at Nikka Yuko has transformed the garden into Haru (Spring), Natsu (Summer), Aki (Fall) and Fuyu (Winter).

Michelle Day Miles, Executive Director, said, “The change of display this year is to reflect the beauty of our diverse community as the Garden showcases various exquisiteness in all four seasons.”

She continued, “We hope visitors who experience our world class destination will be nurtured by the garden landscape, architecture, and programming, and be inspired by the beauty of our diverse community.”

According to officials, this year’s show will have approximately 170,000 lights.

Day Miles said, “We’ve installed three light tunnels that are throughout the garden, we’ve brought in some different types of elements such as Japanese themed lanterns and parasols. We’ve got some light panel displays that are happening throughout the garden this season.”

The festival’s opening night is November 30th, 2023 and it ends on February 24, 2024.

In December, it will be open Thursdays through Sundays. In January, it will be Thursdays through Saturdays, and in February, it will be open on Fridays and Saturdays.

Tickets are available online and at the gift shop.
