MILK RIVER, AB – Alberta Health Services (AHS) has announced another temporary closure of the Emergency Department (ED) at the Milk River Health Centre.

Due to a lack of physician coverage, the ED will be closed temporarily at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2023. It is scheduled to re-open at 7 a.m. on Friday, December 1 to provide 24-hour service.

During the closure, nursing staff will remain on-site to provide care for long-term are residents.

AHS said patients can call 911 if they have a medical emergency. EMS calls will be re-routed to Raymond Health Centre or Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge. Patients seeking care can access emergency services at either of those facilities.

Residents can also call Health Link at 811, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for non-emergency related questions. AHS said people requiring non-emergency medical care can call their family physician.
