Interfaith Food Bank open additional hours for holiday season

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Interfaith Food Bank in Lethbridge is extending its hours for the holidays.

The food bank, along with The Second Door Thrift Store, will be open additional hours on Saturdays throughout December. Officials said this is to allow donors more time to stop in with donations of food or funds. The Interfaith Food Bank will also host a Christmas Market on Saturday, December 9, 2023. Community members will be able to purchase baked goods and gifts for the holidays.

The holiday hours for the Interfaith Food Bank are as follows:

  • Donations & Administration: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays
  • The Second Door Thrift Store: 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays

The additional hours for donations and The Second Door Thrift Store are:

  • 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, 9 and 16, 2023

Donations can also be dropped off at several bins throughout the city, or can be mailed in. Online donations are also accepted at the food bank website.

GIFT OF GIVING PROGRAM

The food bank has established a program for the holidays and other occasions called Gift of Giving. Residents can donate to the Interfaith Food Bank in the name of a friend or family members. The food bank will enclose an acknowledgement of the gift in a letter for the individual to mail or hand deliver to their friend or family member.

Recently, Hobgoblin Holdings has contributed $1,000 to Interfaith Food Bank as part of the initiative. The company has requested that their tenants receive credit for the gift.

Additionally, Interfaith Food Bank is one of the many groups involved in the Christmas Hope campaign. The annual program aims to supply 3,500 adults and 6,500 children with what the supplies they need to have a merry and festive Christmas.
