Winter storm watch issued for southwest Alberta

CARDSTON, AB – A winter storm watch has been issued for southwest Alberta.

According to Environment Canada, a dramatic change to the weather pattern is expected for southwestern Alberta with heavy snow developing on the morning of Thursday, December 7, 2023.

Snowfall may exceed 30 centimeters by Friday morning, with the largest amounts expected to be along the foothills and into the higher terrain.

In the Cardston region, snowfall is expected to hit the area within Waterton Lakes National Park, and the town of Cardston is predicted to get 5 cm.

The snow could make travel difficult over some locations, and visibility may be affected at times. Motorists are urged to drive with caution, and keep an emergency kit in their vehicles.
