Police charge five men after alleged robbery and kidnapping in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Five men have been charged in connection with a robbery and kidnapping.

The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) said on October 30, 2023, officers responded to a hotel along the 2000 block of 7 Avenue South after a report of a robbery by a group of men armed with firearms.

The victims reported three masked men forced their way into the hotel room, demanded money and tied them up. According to the LPS, an undisclosed amount of money was e-transferred before a male victim was forced into a cab and taken to a nearby bank, where further cash was withdrawn and given to the suspects. Police said the victims, a man and woman, were assaulted and additional property was stolen from the hotel room before the suspects fled the area.

The LPS confirmed in a news release that this was a targeted incident.

Five suspects were identified following an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Section. Four suspects have been arrested while one is currently wanted on outstanding warrants.

The following individuals have each been charged with break and enter commit robbery, robbery, kidnapping, extortion, using an imitation firearm while committing an offence, being disguised while committing an offence, sexual assault, assault with a weapon, and uttering threats.

The individuals charged are:

  • Fabian Leon Starkas Chief Body-Beebe, 28, of the Blood Reserve
  • Deaken Daychief, 21, of Lethbridge
  • Adam Eric Sebok, 30, of Lethbridge
  • Charles William Good Striker, 37, of Calgary

Daychief, Sebok and Good Striker have all been remanded in custody, while Chief Body-Beebe has been released with conditions.

Sebok and Chief Body-Beebe are scheduled to be in court on December 11, with Daychief scheduled for court on December 18, and Good Striker set to appear on December 22.

ONE OTHER SUSPECT SOUGHT

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a fifth suspect, 39-year-old Marvin Blake Weasel Head of the Blood Reserve. He faces the same charges as the other four suspects.
