New West Theatre debuting “Elf: The Musical” for holiday season

New West Theatre Artistic Director Kelly Reay echoed Clarke’s thoughts, “Elf is such a beloved modern Christmas classic. Our tickets are selling so quickly because people love this show, people love this story. We hope to expand that tradition and create a new one.”

The musical is a co-production between New West Theatre and the ENMAX Centre, and Reay said the production is the biggest of the year for them as a result.

He explained, “This show has probably cost about twice as much as a typical New West Theatre show, so the scope and the scale are bigger than anything we’ve ever done before.”

Throughout its run at Yates Theatre, the show will run evening shows a 7:30 from Tuesday through to Saturday. In addition, there will be 1:00 p.m. matinee shows on Saturdays.

Elf: The Musical is the third of four shows on New West Theatre’s lineup this season. The company ran Wonderstruck in August, and Honour Beat in October, and will conclude its season with Legends of Rock & Country in February 2024.
