Palliser School Division announces name for new Coaldale school

COALDALE, AB – A name has been chosen for a school set to open in Coaldale.

Palliser School Division’s (PSD) Board of Trustees has officially chosen ‘Coaldale Prairie Winds Secondary’ as the name for the new school.

The parts of the name were submitted by the public, and a panel of members in the school community in Coaldale helped refine the ideas.

Coaldale Prairie Winds Secondary, which is set to open its doors for the 2024/2025 school year, will serve students from grades 7-12. As a result, two other schools will undergo a grade reconfiguration.

R.I. Baker School will serve students in Grades 4-6, and Jennie Emery Elementary School will serve students in kindergarten to Grade 3.

The PSD said giving the school its name will help it have a sense of identity, and create a sense of excitement in the community.
