Pronghorn Athletics launches awareness campaign for memorial scholarship fund

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The University of Lethbridge’s (U of L) Pronghorn Athletics has launched an awareness campaign for the Deb Steacy Academic All-Canadian Scholarship Fund.

The scholarship honours the memory of Steacy, who passed away in 2014. She was a longtime Booster Club member and volunteer coordinator for Operation Red Nose.

The U of L said Steacy’s participation in these programs was crucial in generating funds for Pronghorn Athletics. After her passing, the school renamed its Academic All-Canadian Scholarship to honour her.

She was a CIAU (now U SPORTS) varsity athlete whose legacy is one of support for both athletic and academic excellence.

In 2023, 57 Pronghorn student-athletes earned the scholarship, representing 39.8% of the group.

In total, the Deb Steacy Academic All-Canadian Scholarship Fund is set to distribute $14,250 among the aforementioned student-athletes.

In order to continue honouring the commitment and dedication of Deb Steacy, Pronghorn Athletics is asking for support. Contributions to the scholarship fund can be made at the Pronghorn Athletics website.
