LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge & District Exhibition (LDE) and CEO Mike Warkentin have mutually agreed to part ways as LDE has begun to restructure.

Warkentin joined the organization in 2018, officially becoming CEO in May 2021 after serving in the role in an interim basis. He led the campaign to secure funding for the construction of the new Agri-food Hub & Trade Centre, which opened in August of 2023.

Mark Sayers, President of the LDE Board of Directors said, “Mike Warkentin was the exact leader this organization needed to propel it into the next phase of its history.”

He continued, “His positive energy and progressive vision moved this organization forward and will continue to provide positive effects for generations to come.”

The LDE said Warkentin’s vision to bring southern Alberta together led to the implementation of different events and initiatives, like the Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo in 2022, and free admission for Whoop-Up Days in 2023.

The LDE Board of Directors said it will continue to examine the leadership structure of the organization.
