Police charge man in connection with May 2023 assault

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) has charged a man in connection with an incident in the spring.

On May 2, 2023, police responded to a report that a man was assaulted outside a residence on the 1800 block of 14 Avenue North. Police said the victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The LPS later released a CCTV image of a black GMC Sierra truck they said was connected to the incident and asked for information regarding the driver/owner of the vehicle.

On December 19, police confirmed that they had charged an individual in connection to the incident.

Joe Zwart, 39, has been charged with aggravated assault. Zwart is in custody and is scheduled to be in court on January 11, 2024.
