AHS reports record year for Toys for Tickets campaign

EDMONTON, AB – Alberta Health Services (AHS) is reporting a record year for a Christmas campaign.

2023 saw the return of AHS’ Toys For Tickets campaign, which allows those who get parking tickets at AHS facilities to pay for their ticket by purchasing a new toy to be donated.

The campaign began accepting toys on November 6 and ended on December 15. In 2023, AHS reported that more than 870 toys were collected province wide for the campaign, shattering last year’s number of 470.

Mark Van Damme, an AHS manager of Parking Operations said, “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the incredible community that turned parking tickets into moments of compassion. Your support has truly brightened the season for both our staff and the young hearts that will now have more toys to play with over the holidays.”

All toys purchased in Lethbridge will be distributed to children staying at Chinook Regional Hospital.

AHS launched Toys for Tickets in 2018, but paused it due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
