LETHBRIDGE, AB – More than one full year later, a suspect has been charged in connection to what the Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) described as a “violent robbery.”

Police say, on November 4, 2022, they received a 911 call in which a 77-year-old woman reported she had been attacked.

Officers were called to the Bank of Montreal parking lot on the 600 block of 4 Avenue South.

It was alleged that a man grabbed the woman from behind, forcefully took her keys, pushed her to the ground, and stole her vehicle.

The victim was injured in the altercation, although the exact nature of the injuries was not stated.

The LPS said officers arrested and charged a suspect in connection with the incident on December 19, 2023. Sheldon Wilson, 31, faces one count of robbery.

Following a bail hearing, he was released from custody on conditions. He is scheduled to appear in court next on January 19, 2024.
