Coaldale RCMP charge man in connection to multiple property crimes

COALDALE, AB – Coaldale RCMP has charged a man in connection with multiple property crimes.

On December 16, 2023, Coaldale RCMP were called by local farmers advising they located and apprehended a male who stole their vehicle.

Police responded to the scene and arrested the suspect, who was in possession of a stolen vehicle with a different stolen license plate.

Members of the RCMP Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit (SAD CRU) searched the vehicle, and located several stolen items and articles of clothing.

Police say the items are linked to nine unsolved cases from Coleman, Coaldale, Lethbridge County, Monarch, Coalhurst, High River, Okotoks, and Calgary.

Dustyn Gordon McCracken of Coalhurst has been charged with the following offences:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Break and Enter x3
  • Possession of Firearm contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle x2
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 x2
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 x6
  • Operate a motor vehicle while Prohibited
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order
  • Possession of Break in Tools
  • Fraud Under $5000
  • Breach of a Conditional Sentence Order x6

The Lethbridge Police Service had previously put out a media release seeking the public’s assistance in locating McCracken, and is thanking the members of the public who came forward with information.

McCracken was remanded into custody and will be appearing in Alberta Court of Justice in Lethbridge on December 22, 2023.
