RCMP reports $100K cocaine seizure in Calgary

CALGARY, AB – Several charges were levelled against a pair of Calgary residents on Thursday after police discovered $100,000 in cocaine.

The RCMP’s organized crime unit searched an apartment on December 6, 2023, that was allegedly being used as a storage facility for a cocaine trafficking operation.

Officers say they also searched and seized a Toyota RAV 4 and a Land Rover Range Rover.

The searches reportedly turned up 1.2 kilograms of cocaine, a loaded nine millimetre handgun and $180,000 in cash, according to the RCMP.

Uduakobong “Joseph” Ewitat, 31, and Farahah Rizwan, 28, both of Calgary, are each charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of a firearm knowing it’s prohibited
  • Contravention of storage regulations

The two charged are scheduled to appear in Calgary provincial court on January 12, 2024.

The RCMP’s Federal Serious and Organized Crime unit also thanked the Calgary Police Service for its support throughout the investigation.
