RCMP charge man in Picture Butte break and enter

PICTURE BUTTE, AB – A man faces charges after an RCMP investigation in Picture Butte.

On December 27, 2023, Coaldale RCMP received a report of a break and enter to a Salon in Picture Butte.

Following an investigation, police say a suspect had written cheques to himself using stolen cheques from the break in.

On January 4, 2024, RCMP conducted a search warrant on a property in Monarch, and seized:

  • A.22 caliber rifle
  • 12 grams of Methamphetamine
  • Ammunition
  • other pieces of evidence

As a result of the search, police have charged Lance Trapp of Monarch with multiple charges including:

  • Fraud under $5000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possession of unauthorized firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Fail to comply with summons

Trapp was taken before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. He appeared in court in Lethbridge on January 5.
