LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes have continued their very busy day of trades.

On January 8, 2023, the Hurricanes sent forward Tyson Zimmer to the Vancouver Giants in exchange for:

  • 2004-born forward Colton Langkow
  • 2008-born unsigned forward Kai Anderson
  • 2024 second-round draft pick

The move marked the third trade of the day for the Hurricanes, following one that sent saw them acquire forward Sean Tschigerl from the Calgary Hitmen, and another where they traded Blake Swetlikoff to the Kelowna Rockets.

Zimmer first came to the Hurricanes before the 2022-23 season, and played a total of 101 games for the team. In those 101 games, he scored 31 goals and 40 assists for 71 points. He also added two points in the Hurricanes’ first-round series loss last season.

Langkow, son of former NHL player Daymond Langkow, has appeared in 128 regular season games with Vancouver over parts of four seasons collecting 21 points along with 215 penalty minutes.

Hurricanes General Manager Peter Anholt said, “Colton will add a dimension I felt we needed for our forward group as he brings grit and the ability to be physical, we think he will be a good addition to our forward group.”

Anderson is currently playing for the Burnaby Winter Club U17 Prep team, and has 9 goals and 15 points in 14 games. Anderson was a fifth-round draft pick in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.

Lethbridge next welcomes the Spokane Chiefs to the ENMAX Centre on Tuesday, January 9. Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m.
