Construction work underway at Festival Square skating rink

LETHBRIDGE, AB – You might be able to lace up your skates by the end of this weekend and head over to Festival Square in Lethbridge.

Officials said the outdoor rink at the downtown site is under construction.

The City of Lethbridge said amenities are being installed January 9 and 10, 2024, with flooding planned for January 11. After this, the Downtown Lethbridge BRZ will take over ice maintenance.

The skating rink first opened to the public on December 14, 2022.

The later opening for the 2023-2024 winter season is due to the warmer conditions the region saw over the holidays.
