Lethbridge Christmas tree collection postponed

Jan 11, 2024 | 1:35 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – If you were hoping to have your Christmas tree picked up by the City of Lethbridge, you will have to wait a little bit longer.

The Christmas Tree Collection was supposed to take place on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Due to the extreme cold weather, it will now happen the following Saturday on January 20.

The initiative has been running in the city for the past 30 years. During that time, officials say approximately 95,000 trees have been collected, diverting more than 1.5 million kilograms of waste from the landfill.

When the collection event occurs, residents are asked to have their trees left where their waste bins would be on collection day by 7:00 a.m.

All decorations, tinsel, plastic, and tree stands must be removed.
