LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) said it caught a man driving more than double the speed limit in the city.

On January 10, a member of the Traffic Response Unit was on patrol along 13 Street North and claimed to have recorded a vehicle travelling 113 kilometres per hour in a 50 km/hr zone.

The officer was able to catch up with the vehicle after it stopped at a red light.

“Given the extreme speed and significant risk to public safety, the driver was criminally charged,” reads a media release from LPS.

Liam David Ball, 21, of Lethbridge, faces one count of dangerous driving

He is scheduled to appear in court on March 7, 2024.
