Despite extreme cold, most Lethbridge School Division schools open on Friday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge School Division (LSD) has confirmed that most of its schools are open today.

Many school divisions closed their schools for January 12, 2024, due to the extreme cold conditions in place across Alberta. However, the LSD said its buses, operated by Southland Transportation, are operational for the and classes will proceed as normal.

Parents and guardians are advised that buses may be delayed due to the weather.

On Friday morning, it was confirmed that both Immanuel Christian elementary and secondary schools, part of the LSD, will be closed. The division noted that Immanuel Christian schools, as well as Lethbridge Christian School, do not utilize Southland for bus transportation.

Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for all of Alberta.
