LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge College Kodiaks are set to celebrate the latest inductees to its Hall of Fame later this month.

On January 19, 2024, the athletics program will honour the inductees when the Kodiaks men and women’s basketball teams host Briercrest College. Ceremonies will be held at half-time of both games.

The 2003-04 Kodiaks women’s basketball team will be inducted. The team captured both the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) championship and Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) national title.

Trent Mason, who guided the golf team to nationals for five straight years beginning in 2010, will be inducted in the coaches category. Bertil Johansson will also be enshrined in the coaches category. Johansson coached the Kodiaks cross-country team for 32 seasons.

Athletes being inducted this year are Mary Kamau, who ran for the college’s cross-country team and won gold provincially and nationally in 2003 and 2004, and Travis Killian.

Killian starred for the men’s volleyball team and was a two-time ACAC All-Conference player and CCAA Academic All-Canadian during his tenure with the team from 1991-94.

The Kodiaks Hall of Fame is an initiative of the Kodiaks Association, which is a group of boosters committed to preserving and cheering on the college’s athletic history, while looking for opportunities to support current and future student-athletes. Plaques of the inductees will be permanently on display in the mezzanine area of the Val Matteotti Gymnasium.
