Province giving $1.4 million to 44 non-profits in southern Alberta

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Dozens of non-profit organizations in the region are receiving support from the Government of Alberta.

The province has announced that it is investing $42 million into 271 non-profits across Alberta.

That includes $1,424,722 going to 44 groups south of Calgary.

Two organizations are set to receive the largest grants in southern Alberta at $125,000 each – the Kinsmen Club of Claresholm and The Lake at Heritage Pointe Owners Association in Foothills.

A total of 20 grants were issued to groups in Lethbridge, the biggest of which is $87,249.36 to the Southern Alberta Art Gallery of Association.

Cardston-Siksika MLA and Minister of Tourism and Sport Joseph Schow said these are important investments in terms of building communities up.

“Investing in community recreation infrastructure binds communities together, builds community spirit and provides new opportunities for residents and our youth to get active in sports. These rehabilitation projects across the province create economic growth by helping spur the desire for Albertans to visit new areas of the province, whether it’s for a hockey tournament or a weekend getaway,” said Schow.
