FORT MACLEOD, AB – Well, at least it’s no longer extreme cold.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the southwestern corner of the province.

It includes communities such as Fort Macleod, Pincher Creek, Crowsnest Pass, Waterton Lakes National Park, Magrath, the Blood Tribe, Claresholm, Nanton, and more.

The weather forecaster said these areas can expect snowfall to begin Tuesday afternoon, January 16, 2024.

As much as 15 to 25 cm of snow could fall by Thursday morning.

The biggest snow dumps are expected to occur closer to the corner of southwestern Alberta such as Pincher Creek and Waterton.

Environment Canada warns that visibility may be reduced at times and road surfaces may become difficult to navigate. Drivers are asked to adjust accordingly to the conditions.

Although Lethbridge is not included in the snowfall warning, the forecast calls for 10 to 15 cm of snow between Tuesday night and Wednesday night.

The extreme cold warning that was issued last week has been cancelled in southern Alberta.

More details on weather alerts can be found on the Environment Canada website.
