Collision around Alberta-B.C. border leads to delays on Highway 3

COLEMAN, AB – The RCMP has confirmed that one lane of Highway 3 is now open at the Alberta/B.C. border, with alternating traffic. Officials said vehicles can get through, but it is slow-moving.

COLEMAN, AB – A collision overnight has led to a traffic disruption on Highway 3.

The Crowsnest Pass RCMP reported the incident shortly after 1 a.m. on January 23, 2024.

Police said it happened on Highway 3 in British Columbia near the border with Alberta, which resulted in Highway 3 becoming “impassable”.

The Crowsnest Pass RCMP was reported to be stopping westbound traffic traveling west of Coleman. The Sparwood RCMP stopped traffic from continuing east of Sparwood.

The Municipality of Crowsnest Pass added that Highway 3 is closed on the west side of the Crowsnest Pass, in Coleman, at the Volker Stevin Yard going into B.C.

Drivers are advised to find alternate routes until the scene is fully cleared.
