Jan 23, 2024 | 12:18 PM

MILK RIVER, AB – Alberta Health Services (AHS) has confirmed another temporary closure of the Milk River Health Centre Emergency Department (ED).

The ED will be closed as of 12 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. It is set to re-open at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, January 24 to provide 24-hour service. Officials said the closure is due to a lack of physician coverage.

Nursing staff will remain on-site during the temporary closure to provide care for long-term care residents. Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency, with EMS calls being re-routed to the Raymond Health Centre or Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.

Patients seeking care can access emergency services at the facilities listed above.

Additionally, residents are reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency health-related questions. Those requiring non-emergency medical care are also encouraged to call their family physician.
