Alberta achieves red tape reduction goal
The Government of Alberta has announced that it has cut red tape by one-third, meeting the goal that it set for itself by the end of 2023
Red tape is defined as “excessive bureaucracy or adherence to rules and formalities” in the Oxford dictionary, and it is something the province wants to reduce.
Premier Danielle Smith said doing so will help businesses to thrive.
“Unnecessary red tape often creeps up slowly, hampering ingenuity, efficiency and growth. It hurts our economy and it hurts Albertans,” said Smith. “Streamlining processes isn’t just a goal; it’s a promise to cultivate a business-friendly environment, increase job opportunities and position our province as a leader in efficiency and innovation. It’s a promise we intend to keep.”
