14 Alberta communities set heat record Monday

CROWSNEST PASS, AB – From extremely cold to unseasonably warm, it has been an unpredictable winter in Alberta.

Environment Canada said over one dozen communities across the province had their warmest January 29 on record this Monday.

Nordegg, a hamlet west of Red Deer, was the hottest at 15.9 degrees Celsius.

Areas in southern Alberta where records were also broken include Banff, Crowsnest Pass, and Waterton Lakes National Park.

While Environment Canada said Lethbridge reached a maximum temperature of 13.7 degrees, it was not enough to break the city’s record for January 29.
