LETHBRIDGE, AB – The City of Lethbridge has launched its Water Meter Upgrade Program.

The three-year program aims to replace outdated meters in approximately 10,000 households in Lethbridge. The city said the new meters will be more efficient, which will show in multiple ways:

  • Streamlining information collection;
  • Reducing the need for staff to access properties for future meter readings;
  • Reducing missed reads;
  • Providing more accurate and predictable billing.

Water meter rollouts will be rolled out neighbourhood-by-neighbourhood, beginning on the west side with Indian Battle Heights and Copperwood.

Leanne Lammertsen, Water and Wastewater Operations Manager said, “The program isn’t just about enhancing efficiency, it’s about delivering a better service to residents. We understand change can be daunting, but we are committed to making this work convenient and as accessible as possible.”

A door hanger notifying residents will be given to those that need a new meter, and they will also get a notification on the Lethbridge Loop App.

Anyone who gets a hanger can make an appointment to install the new meters by calling 311.
