LETHBRIDGE, AB – The ENMAX Centre is celebrating a major milestone.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Lethbridge venue, with the centre first opening its doors in 1974 as the Canada Games Sportsplex. It was originally built to host the 1975 Canada Winter Games.

Since then, it has hosted major sporting events like the 2022 Montana’s Brier (then the Tim Hortons Brier), PBR (Professional Bull Riders) competitions, as well as musical acts like KISS, Carrie Underwood, Elton John and shows from Cirque du Soleil and comedians Russell Peters and Jerry Seinfeld.

Jennifer Norsworthy, Acting General Manager of the facility said, “We wouldn’t really be here without the support of the community and sponsors.”

“It’s really exciting to share this and have a little bit of fun throughout the year.”

For over two decades, ENMAX Corporation, in partnership with the City of Lethbridge, has helped support the venue.

Norsworthy said ENMAX “has been a great partner with us and really great fit for the community.”

SPECIAL OFFER

To kick off its anniversary celebrations, the venue is offering 50 per cent off ticket sales for the Friday, March 1, 2024 PBR Canada Cup Series event for the first 500 patrons. Fans can take advantage of the offer by using the code 50YEARS when purchasing tickets at the ENMAX Centre website.

Jason Davidson, founder of 3D Bull Riding said, “For more than two decades the venue has been home to some of the greatest PBR Canada moments, and we look forward to may more.”

Norsworthy added, “We’re thrilled to start our 50th anniversary year with this special offer for the community. It’s our way of saying thank you for five decades of support.”

The PBR Canada Cup Series will be at the ENMAX Centre March 1 and 2.
