LETHBRIDGE, AB – An annual fundraiser is making its return to Lethbridge this week.

On February 8, 2024, local radio stations and community members will participate in the 14th annual Care from the Heart Day Radio-a-thon.

The initiative helps to raise funds and awareness for the Chinook Regional Hospital (CRH) Foundation. Doctors, nurses, administrators, donors and front-line staff will have the chance to share their stories on the airwaves for all to hear.

Honorary chair for the event, Bob Balog, said 100 per cent of the funds raised stay in the community. Donations will help address the greatest needs at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.

Balog said, “It’s important to the community to have the best facility and the best equipment that we possibly can.”

He added, “At some point in time in our lives, every family will need [to use] our hospital, so let’s make it the very best one that we absolutely can.”

Ahead of the big event, Balog Auction hosted a charity auction on January 31.

For the Radio-a-thon day itself, Balog said, “We just ask everybody throughout the city, throughout the community, throughout southern Alberta…help us if you can.”

He added, “We appreciate every little bit everybody can do.”

The 2023 Care from the Heart Day Radio-a-Thon raised over $255,000.
