High River RCMP investigating fatal collision

FOOTHILLS COUNTY, AB – High River RCMP responded to a report of a collision involving a pickup truck and a train on 176 Street East in Foothills County.

On Saturday, February 4, 2024, at approximately 9:00 a.m., a witness reported that a man driving a truck crossed the tracks and the train was unable to stop in time, resulting in the train striking the passenger side of the pick-up truck.

A 47-year-old man from Okotoks, who was driving the truck, was declared deceased at the scene.

The RCMP continues to investigate the collision.
