Radio-a-Thon raises $569K for Chinook Regional Hospital

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The community came together in a big way to support local healthcare needs.

The Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation (CRHF) held its 14th Annual Care from the Heart Day Radio-a-Thon on Thursday, February 8, 2024. It saw radio stations in Lethbridge, including Wild 95-5 and All Hits B-93.3 FM raise awareness for the fundraiser.

By the end of the day, the CRHF said it had collected $569,759.15, surpassing its goal of $500,000.

The non-profit extended its gratitude to everyone who helped to make the event a success.

“In addition to our radio sponsors, we extend special recognition to four remarkable gifts from those who significantly contributed to the success of the Care from the Heart Day,” said the CRHF.

Costco

Costco made the largest single contribution, totalling $244,000. Over the last 30 years, the company said is has given nearly $2 million for pediatric initiatives at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.

The CRHF gave Costco a special recognition for their efforts.

“In a notable recognition of their exceptional fundraising endeavors, Costco Lethbridge has secured the prestigious award for the store raising the highest funds in Western Canada this year. Their outstanding achievement earned them an additional boost from Costco Corporate,” said the CRHF.

Hebrew Congregation of Lethbridge

The Hebrew Congregation of Lethbridge donated $150,000.

The money came from the sale of local synagogues 14 years ago.

Balog Charity Cattle Auction Sale

The agricultural community also rallied to support the event.

A total of $85,566.19 was raised at the Balog Charity Cattle Auction Sale, an amount that pushed the fundraiser over its goal for this year.

Turin 4H Club

The local youth club came together to donate $50,000 to the Radio-a-Thon. It was made in the spirit and cherished memories of Marlene Stroeve and Craig Sosick.

Although the Radio-a-Thon event has come to a close, donations can still be made online at CRHFoundation.ca.
