Crews investigating train collision and derailment west of Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB – UPDATE (Feb. 12, 3:30 p.m.): Officials with Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) have provided the following update on a train derailment Sunday.

The company said eight cars derailed while being moved at a slow speed in the Kipp rail yard west of Lethbridge. There were no injuries or spills and no threat to public safety.

Crews cleared the derailed cars and reopened the yard track Sunday afternoon.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has reported a train collision and derailment in southern Alberta.

It occurred at the Kipp rail yard on the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Crowsnest Subdivision west of Lethbridge.

Two investigators were called to the scene on Sunday, February 11, 2024.

No further information is available at this time.
