CROWSNEST PASS, AB – The winter season is far from over in southern Alberta.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for some areas in the southwestern portion of the province. A warning is on for the Crowsnest Pass-Pincher Creek-Waterton Lakes National Park and Cardston-Fort Macleod-Magrath regions.

The agency said heavy snow is expected to continue Tuesday, February 13, 2024, with total amounts of 12 to 20 centimetres. Between seven to 10 centimetres fell overnight.

However, Environment Canada stated that the snow should gradually taper off throughout the day.

Officials noted that the rapidly accumulating snow could add difficulties to travel in some locations and visibility could be impacted due to heavy snow.

Travelers are advised to be prepared for quickly changing and deteriorating conditions.
