LETHBRIDGE, AB – The City of Lethbridge has issued a call out to seasonal employees.

Officials said every spring, the City aims to hire roughly 50 workers to join the public operations teams for projects during the warmer months.

Aurelie Lajus Jr., People and Culture Business Partner at the City said, “You get to work outside in the gorgeous weather with a team of great people, serving your community and helping to make Lethbridge a better place to live.”

Summer jobs available include positions in the Parks and Cemeteries, Transportation, Water and Wastewater, Waste and Recycling, Arenas departments and many others.

Those interested in applying must have:

  • A valid unrestricted Class 5 operator’s license with no more than 5 demerit points
  • A current commercial driver’s abstract
  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • The ability to work shifts and weekends as assigned

Erin McIlwraith, Parks Operations Coordinator, started her journey with the City in a summer position. Over time, she has worked up to the position she holds today.

She said, “I loved the opportunity to work seasonally as I started my family; it allowed me to spend winters with my kids when they were young.”

“I started with the City of Lethbridge Parks Department 20 years ago and fell in love with the experience of working outside. Parks are an integral part of our community, and helping create spaces for generations of people to enjoy is something I am so proud to be a part of.”

A list of available positions is at the City of Lethbridge website. Officials noted that more positions will be added in the coming weeks.
