LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Military Museum has erected a new temporary display.

The display, titled William Frame Citizen Soldier honours William Frame, a soldier who served in the Lethbridge Highlanders 113th Battalion in the First World War.

Adrienne McLennan, Frame’s daughter spoke on how important the exhibit is to her and her family. She said, “You can imagine how touched I was when I knew this was going to happen.”

McLennan added that she hopes people in Lethbridge will come to the museum and appreciate the history, “I wonder if Lethbridge realizes what a wonderful museum they have, and how important the military history of Lethbridge is.”

The exhibit features memorabilia including Frame’s uniform from the Second World War, and photos of the unit. Items in the exhibit came courtesy of a loan from Frame’s grandsons, who had collected the memorabilia.

In addition to McLennan, other family members of Frame were in attendance for the opening of the exhibit.

Glen Miller, curator of William Frame Citizen Soldier, said, “Its important because (Frame) joined the Lethbridge Highlanders, it is so rare to find anything at the Galt Museum or here that is Lethbridge Highlanders related.”

Miller added there may be families in Lethbridge who have connections to those who served in the unit, and encourages anyone who has memorabilia to contact the museum.

He said, “I’m sure there are families in Lethbridge and the area that have something connected, they just don’t know what they have, so our job is to help make that connection and bring that artifact to life.”

The display opened on February 20, 2024 and will run until the summer.
