Southern Albertans win 44 medals in Alberta Winter Games

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Southern Alberta had an impressive showing at this past weekend’s Alberta Winter Games.

More than 4,000 athletes aged 11 to 16, along with their coaches and family members, competed in 18 different events.

By the conclusion of the Games on Monday, February 19, 2024, dozens of athletes from southern Alberta hit the podium a total of 44 times.

Zone 1, also known as Sunny South, includes athletes from communities such as Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Nanton, and Brooks.

Zosia Adelman of Lethbridge and Chelsia Cooper of Medicine Hat won the most medals out of Zone 1 competitors at four each.

Adelman took home one gold medal and three silver in speed skating events. Cooper won three silver medals and one bronze in artistic gymnastics.

As well, Lethbridge speed skater Gavin Ogilvie claimed three medals.
