CALGARY, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes’ offense exploded on Sunday, February 25, 2024, as they took down the Calgary Hitmen 9-2 at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The Hurricanes wasted no time getting onto the scoreboard, with Noah Chadwick knocking in a backhander just 14 seconds into the game. The goal was Chadwick’s 10th of the season, assisted by Logan McCutcheon and Sean Tschigerl.

Hitmen forward Ben Kindel tied the game at one goal apiece just under eight minutes into the game, but the Hurricanes responded with a goal from Miguel Marques at the 14:19 mark of the first. McCutcheon and Chadwick each assisted on Marques’ 25th tally of the season. The goal ended the first period with a 2-1 score, with the Hurricanes outshooting Calgary 21-8.

In the second period, Kindel scored his second of the game to once again tie the game. Just over two minutes later, the Hurricanes once again took the lead when Carter Dereniwsky buried a rebound from Kooper Gizowski for his fourth goal of the season. Brayden Edwards and Kash Andresen added two more goals in the second period to give the Hurricanes a 5-2 lead after two.

The Hurricanes continued their dominant performance in the third period, with three goals in six minutes. Noah Chadwick buried a shot from the slot after a feed from Marques for his second goal of the game at the 4:47 mark.

Logan Wormald followed that up with his 16th of the season from Joe Arntsen and Tristen Doyle, and Edwards scored his second a little over four minutes later, assisted by Wormald.

Hayden Pakkala would add the final nail with his 10th of the season from Marques and Will Sharpe to finish the game at a 9-2 score. Lethbridge outshot Calgary 48-26 to move to a 26-26-5 record on the season.

Chadwick was named first star of the game, while Kindel and Wormald were given second and third star, respectively.

The Hurricanes continue their road trip on Friday, March 1 when they travel to Saskatoon to take on the Blades.
