LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lakeland College Rustlers came out victorious in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Women’s Volleyball Championships on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

The tournament took place at Lethbridge College from Thursday until Saturday, with the top four teams in each division competing for the chance to play for the national championships.

The Rustlers carried their momentum from a dominant 18-1 regular season into the tournament, taking down the Lethbridge College Kodiaks 3-0 in the quarterfinals.

Following that, the Rustlers took on the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens, and despite dropping the first set, they took the game three sets to one.

The win over RDP punched their ticket to the final where they faced the Ambrose University Lions, who finished with a 15-4 record, top of the ACAC South Division. The Rustlers once again won in three sets, 25-18, 25-19, 25-18 to win their second consecutive ACAC Championship.

In the Bronze Medal game, the Briercrest Clippers came out victorious over the Queens, while the King’s University Eagles beat the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings 3-0 in the 5/6 place game.

The Rustlers will look to continue their momentum with the CCAA Women’s Volleyball Championships from March 6-9 in Red Deer.
