LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service has charged a man following an investigation into vandalism downtown.

LPS said over the past month, multiple downtown businesses have had their exteriors spray painted. Police said the suspect was accessing the buildings via the roof and spray painting large areas on the sides.

In one of the incidents, police obtained surveillance video of the suspect which assisted in identifying him. They added that the vandalism matched the style of spray paint in other incidents reported at commerical buildings in January and November 2023.

In total, six businesses were vandalized, and the cost of repairs ranged from $1,000 to $4,000 in each case. Josh Leonard Cyr, 41, of Lethbridge, is charged with six counts of mischief under $5,000.

Cyr was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on April 17, 2024.
