LETHBRIDGE, AB – A 21-year-old man has been charged by the Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) in connection with an alleged domestic incident.

On March 1, 2024, the LPS responded to a report of a domestic incident at a home along 13 Avenue North. Police said a firearm was alleged to have been shot.

The victim, according to LPS, fled the residence and called police from a neighbouring home. While assisting the victim, the suspect male exited the home and surrendered to police. The LPS said that during a search of the home, officers seized a shotgun, ammunition and other weapons.

The 21-year-old man is charged with numerous firearm offences, along with the following:

  • Attempted murder
  • Uttering threats
  • Mischief to property
  • Two counts of assault with a weapon

Police said the man is currently in custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release Hearing.

Because the case involves alleged domestic violence, police are not releasing the name of the accused in order to protect the identity of the victim.
