CANstruction YQL returns for 2024
LETHBRIDGE, AB – An event in Lethbridge this week is bringing out the giving, and engineering spirit of residents.
CANstruction is an anti-hunger project across North America, which looks to donate food to food banks. As part of the event, teams of architects, engineers, designers, contractors, and students work together to create structures out of canned food.
Lethbridge has seven teams participating in the event in 2024, and they are constructing their food can sculptures in the hallways of Centre Village Mall. The teams come from multiple community organizations and companies, including from the University of Lethbridge, Lethbridge College, and Winston Churchill High School.
James Walshe, Board Chair for CANstruction YQL spoke about the designs made by the teams. He said, “We do have some supports with local firms if everybody needs help [with designs]. You can do very simple, basic designs as well, it doesn’t need to be this big fancy thing.”
