Ground broken on new supportive housing complex in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Ground has been broken on new supportive housing units in the city.

The province is providing a $10.2 million investment to build new, permanent supportive housing units in Lethbridge for those experiencing homelessness or in recovery.

Jason Nixon, Minister of Seniors, Community and Social Services said, “I am proud to celebrate the groundbreaking of Lethbridge Housing Authority’s new, permanent supportive housing facility. Supportive housing ensures those most vulnerable in our community have access to safe, stable place to call home while they receive the supports and services they need.”

Construction will begin in the spring on the 30 unit complex, which the province says will be for adults experiencing homelessness and who live with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.

Lethbridge mayor Blaine Hyggen said, “The groundbreaking of this permanent supportive housing complex signifies a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to address homelessness and support those in need in our community. Together we are building a more compassionate and inclusive future for all residents of Lethbridge.”
