Lethbridge Police charge woman with assault

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A Lethbridge woman is a been charged in relation to an incident where a woman was attacked after getting off a bus.

On March 12, 2024 at approximately 8 p.m., a 24-year-old woman exited a city bus at a stop along Whoop Up Drive and Blackfoot Road.

Officers with the Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) say the suspect followed her off the bus and attacked her from behind, punching her in the face and kicking her in the head when she was on the ground. The victim was treated by EMS at the scene for soft tissue injuries.

Police say the suspect and victim were not known to each other, and they believe the attack was unprovoked and random.

Officers obtained surveillance footage from the bus, and were given a description of the suspect, who they arrested the following day.

Leona Liza Anne Moore, 49, of Lethbridge is facing charges of assault causing bodily harm and resisting arrest. She is currently in custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
