Lethbridge man charged after allegedly harassing, touching teen girls

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) has apprehended a man that is says engaged in inappropriate behaviours with a group of minors.

Just before 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2024, officers were called to the Westminster playground on the 400 block of 18 Street North.

They received reports that three girls, all 13 years old, were being followed and harassed by a man who allegedly asked them to engage in sexual activity.

The LPS claims that the man had inappropriately touched one of the girls during the interaction.

A man matching the suspect’s description was located a short distance away and was arrested.

Burton Franklin Vielle, 25, of Lethbridge, is charged with one count of sexual interference and three counts of criminal harassment.

He remains in custody and is awaiting a bail hearing.
