CLARESHOLM, AB – Even though spring is not set to start until Tuesday, it sure felt like spring this past weekend.

Environment Canada says Sunday was the warmest March 17 on record in 21 communities throughout Alberta

Among the places where records were set, Claresholm and Pincher Creek were the warmest, each reaching maximum temperatures of 21.5 degrees Celsius.

The new record set in Pincher Creek toppled the one that had been standing for the last 119 years, as it reached 17.8 degrees back in 1905.

Locally, heat records were also set in Banff, Bow Valley Provincial Park, Cardston, Crowsnest Pass, High River, and Waterton Lakes National Park.
