Snowfall warning issued in parts of southern, central Alberta

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The first day of spring has passed, but winter conditions are set to make an appearance this week.

Earlier this week, Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for many parts of southern Alberta. For some areas, that has been upgraded to a snowfall warning.

The Medicine Hat – Bow Island – Suffield, Okotoks – High River – Claresholm, and Brooks – Strathmore – Vulcan regions are expected to receive 10 to 15 centimetres of snow, but the agency says they could see as much as 30 centimetres by Friday, March 22, 2024.

Meanwhile, the Lethbridge – Taber – Milk River region, as well as the Cardston – Fort Macleod – Magrath and Crowsnest Pass – Pincher Creek – Waterton Lakes National Park regions remain under a special weather statement, expecting periods of snowfall Wednesday and Thursday.

Environment Canada expects local amounts of 10 to 20 centimetres by Friday morning.
