LPS seeking witnesses in collision that killed dog

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) is asking anyone who might have video of a hit-and-run collision from this past weekend to come forward.

At approximately 1:16 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2024, officers were called to the area of 20 Avenue South and Palm Road South.

A 33-year-old woman said her Yorkie Terrier had gotten away from her and both were struck on 20 Ave by a vehicle that reportedly failed to stop.

The dog was killed. The woman was knocked to the ground but did not sustain any injuries.

Police canvassed the area for video surveillance and witnesses but were unable to find anything.

The vehicle is described as a dark coloured SUV or truck that might have had tinted windows. No description of the driver was provided.

Anyone who was in the area of 20 Avenue South and Palm Road South between 1:00 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, or who had home security video or dashcam footage, is asked to call the LPS at 403-328-4444 and reference file 24005270.
